Tracey Green became principal of Carl Schurz Elementary School for the 2022-2023 school year. She has been in an administrative leadership position for the past six years and most recently worked in San Marcos CISD as an assistant principal at Bowie Elementary. 

“I am ecstatic to be a Unicorn who will serve the Carl Schurz Elementary family,” said Green. “It is an honor to be able to lead a Dual Language campus rich in traditions, culture, and parental involvement. With immense excitement, I am looking forward to becoming part of the grand history of New Braunfels and building relationships with the community. Go Unicorns!”

Green began her career in education more than 20 years ago. She has worked in Austin ISD and Round Rock ISD as teacher, instructional coach, and as the district’s Gifted and Talented Specialist in Pflugerville ISD.  In 2016, she was named an assistant principal while working in Pflugerville ISD. Since 2017,  Green has worked for SMCISD as an assistant principal serving Dual Language campuses. She was also a Summer School Principal which allowed her to support the continued learning of elementary students. 

She earned her bachelor’s degree from Texas State University and a Master’s of Educational Leadership from Lamar University. She is certified as a principal for all grade levels, and to teach elementary self-contained, physical education and elementary reading. She also has a certification in Foundations of Blended Learning, ESL, Cognitive Coaching, and as a TPESS/TTESS evaluator. 

Green is a proud mother to her two-year-old son, Lee. She is an avid runner who enjoys being outdoors with her two dogs, Mister and Moose, and taking her son on new adventures.
